Sue Chen first learnt to fold a paper crane when she was a child in Taiwan and has always loved playing with paper. She reignited her interest in origami after moving to Melbourne in 2014. Sue is mainly interested in modular origami and tessellations because she enjoys the beauty of their geometric symmetry. For Sue, folding origami is a form of stress relief and she loves gifting friends and family with her pieces. During the 2020 pandemic lockdown, Sue raised money for the Indigenous Literacy Foundation by selling some of her origami in an online charity auction. When she’s not folding origami, Sue teaches children’s literature at Deakin University, where she exhibited some of her kusudamas in the Burwood campus library in 2016.
