Sukanya Deshmukh is an Indian architect and designer interested in exploring the potential and possibilities of origami. Her journey in origami started with folding origami flowers. Her study in Architecture steered her interests in applications of origami in the design of buildings. She recently completed her Masters degree in Design, Innovation and Technology where she focused on the utilization of origami in acoustics of built space for her thesis project.

Sukanya has designed origami based large sized installations and lamps during her tenure at an architecture firm in India and loves to constantly explore different materials to fold with. She enjoys dyeing her paper for each piece of origami and is mostly inspired by the colours in nature. Sukanya considers herself a forever student of the various dimensions of the Origamiverse. However, she finds herself currently obsessed with folding tiny origami tessellations ever since she folded her first hydrangea designed by Shuzo Fujimoto.

Sukanya also loves to spread the wonder of origami, especially with young minds.

Folds are everywhere just waiting to be explored!
